The pump is on my little home made towable backhoe. While back filling the hole I had dug for a burn pit.
The pump shaft starting slipping whenever a cylinder would be fully extended while I had the valve lever in the full open position.
As long as the fluid was not flowing to one of the cylinders at full extend the pump would stop slipping.
When it started slipping. I thought oh "sh*t not the pulley again. I thought the JB Weld had given way. But nope pulley is still stuck solid to the shaft.
It's just the shaft. I wonder if something broke inside the pump? It does still pump fluid.
Or maybe a gear stripped? I can't tear into it until get the star socket set.
As to the keyed shaft. I think it must have had one before. But I'm sure this pump has been rebuilt at one time. And the person rebuilding it might have put in a non keyed shaft.
I bought it off ebay and it said it was a new pump. But when I got it. It showed signs of rebuilding.
I'll just buy another pump with a keyed shaft later and use some jaw couplers and direct drive it.
I guess I'll use the pump like it is for now and if I do blow the pump or make the pump worse. I can always use parts from my other pump with a blown seal and rebuild this one.
