Would you buy a natural gas car?

I guess it depends on the vehicle.. I know with the police cars we had, dedicated CNG and Bi-Fuel, they wouldnt run with the gasoline cars. The power curve was just weaker. As for the plug wear, I would double check the part number for that vehicle. The ones I used to work on didnt wear the plugs much more than gasoline. Although, you mentioned that the timing has to be set for it, how old is this truck? Is it fuel injected or carburated? That would make a BIG difference, carburated gas burners wouldnt fall out of a tree anyhow, so the difference would be minimal.

This is a 99 chevy .It is injected.You aer correct. I had a carburated mod. once that ran very bad on nat gas

as high as they say natural gas is going, what would the advantage be? from what i hear, we import about 25% of our natural gas: but in the county i live, there are gas wells everywhere, so i really don't understand why the price is going so high.

From what I remember the problem with natural gas cars is that the fuel does not carry as much energy per weight as does gasoline or diesel. So your range is less compared to a gasser or diesel. I would worry more about a gasser blowing up than the natural gas car.

I would not purchase one, I saw a photograph of an individual that was blown to bits while filling up his CNG tank.

This was most likely due to improper filling. That would be the most dangerous time, if not properly grounded. Otherwise its safer than gasoline.

My neighbor, a dentist, came home last week in her Ford Excursion with the gas pump nozzle hanging out of her fuel tank fill hole.....

My thoughts too..... We spend so much time protecting the ..... lets say, ignorant in this country that it would be a huge issue..
