Cabela's provides service and parts for their tractors. They state they will continue service. But who knows for how long.

Probably till the last one sold is out of warranty.

It's all good until you buy something with a major issue, trans is bad etc.. Dealer is the only way the manufacture will take care of warranty work.. HD and all those big box stores sell junk anyway.. A few years ago I would buy a few things at those places and I found I was throwing my money down a rat hole because most of what they sell is Chinese junk..

I wouldn't count on that. Maybe for a car but for a riding mower there's no reason why a mechanic couldn't have a van and go to the owners place to do the service work. Dealers are going to find tough times in the future. Why I would buy from Amazon is simple. I can do all the research I want to pick the exact model that fits my needs. A dealer may have what I want in stock but there's a good chance they will have to order it or try to talk me into what they want to sell (what they have in stock). Either way I most likely will have to wait. Ordering from Amazon means I can do it from the comfort of my couch when it's convenient for me. How many people here bought their tractor from a dealer they never visited in a different state? Why would this be different? As for dealers not working on something bought on Amazon, that would probably not be a wise idea. Enough complaints to the company and they could get their franchise yanked. It's not like the dealer eats warranty work, they are still paid. Good service and experience can translate to service work after the warranty expires.

There have been posts on this site who have told stories of dealers refusing to sell implements to people who did not buy a tractor from them. I agree they should work on it and get paid. But some people think they have plenty of business and don't need it.

"some people think they have plenty of business and don't need it"

It may be different here in Northern Maine than in your area, we have a LOT of small business's here that will work for your business, I buy tons of stuff on Amazon, no doubt it saves me money and time. I research everything as well from my couch, I opt to purchase large items locally because it has paid off for me in the past and will in the future. I have in fact had one new tractor and a lawn mower with major problems, it would have been a nightmare to get it fixed if I bought off the internet or big box store.

The only thing I don't like to spend my money on is anything made in China and Taiwan isn't much better, I learned a long time ago, they don't have quality materials, nor do they have the ability to build anything that's worth the money you spend on it. If I'm going to make a purchase and the made in USA product is 25%-30% more, I will wait until I have what I need to purchase the product with the stars and stripes because I don't want to buy the same product five times.. If I'm looking at a product made in Japan, I'm all over it, they consistently make good quality products as well. Germany is another country of origin I do and will continue to purchase certain products from.

Just one man's opinion..

I wouldn't buy a tractor online I did however by a log splitter from northern tools. Its pretty nice in comparison to any of the ones you will see at a big box store. I didn't really look for them locally as i have never seen one out at a dealers lot unless it a box store. I had to put it together. Ran the hydraulic lines, installed the motor, bolted everything together, and added the oil and fuel. She fired right up and works great. Its the northstar brand. Its heavy duty. Much heavier than my dads 25 year old log splitter. I know guys that buy motor cycles off eBay and don't seem to run into problems. However there was this ONE TIME. I worked for a family owned excavating company. They really like harley's. I remember his saying he saw this amazing deal over seas and said it was to good of a deal to pass up. My response was to good to be true. He sent the money and his motorcycle never came. So you surely need to be careful.

I never ran into that, however, I was less likely to get a good deal (price wise) on implements from a different dealer. Often times the top tractor manufactures don't make the best quality or matching implements for my intended use.
