Would your wife notice if you got a new tractor?

I learned as a child that it is better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission.

In our house, my wife has horses, so she is in no position to complain about ANY equipment purchase I might want to make. Sadly, since my wife has horses, I can seldom afford to make any of my desired purchases

Can you tell that to my 11yo daughter, who can't understand why we can't have a horse farm? My crack about how we had 35 of them in he barn didn't go over well:laughing:

I'm all out of surprise purchases, so good luck to the rest of you guys. After I bought my '11 Power Stroke the wife made it clear those sorts of purchasing shenanigans weren't going to happen again. Did get a tractor, though. It payed for itself since I did all the clearing for our new home.

I guess maybe I should have said "household", since we make an effort to keep the horses out of our actual dwelling. For what my wife and daughter spend on their horses, I could buy a brand new (cabbed!) tractor every year or two...but only if the money wasn't already spent!

Collecting classic sports cars or old masters art might be more expensive hobbies, but horses have to be up there among the costlier ways to pass time and entertain yourself. I almost made it to work on time this morning...until our small herd of escape artists thundered past the back door and on up the road. Thankfully, the big snowbanks kept them confined to the road, so it wasn't hard to track them down and lead them back home again. That's just not my kind of early-morning entertainment.

My wife grudgingly "let me " buy a new tractor after many years with doing without. Just a couple of months later and into the winter she called me and related how she had put her SUV off the road and through a snowy field and into a brook. At her command I fired up the new "don't really need it " tractor and went three miles in spitting snow to pull her out of the brook undamaged and returned home with frozen pant legs from wading in the brook to hook onto her SUV. I haven't heard a bad word about the tractor after that.

My wife actually told me to get a new one.
I have two old clunkers, one wouldn't start and I had just spent 2 days getting the other one running after sitting for a few years.(got it running, too!)
I had been looking around at new ones online, so I already had it narrowed down in my mind.
Stopped at the dealer, he had just put one on sale on craigslist, so I (WE) snapped it up!
I think I'll keep her...
