Wow--Biggest planter I have ever seen

I'm surprised that it has markers on it. Anyone needing something that big most likely is running RTK GS guidance.

You can get much strighter rows with part markers than with the GPS guidance. We run that with the drill, but would not want that with the corn planter.

I'm sure someone down Circleville way will have one someday, just to say they have one...

A friend of mine's son told me last year, a friend of their's brought his J.D. 36 row unit down from Michigan to get their crop in, with the wet spring we had. I asked him how much h.p. it took to pull that rig. He said the same tractor they pull their 12 row with, and it's only 300 h.p....... I had to chuckle... I remember when his Grandpa's biggest tractor was an 1850 Oliver. Times sure have changed..!!

Yep, times sure change.

In his hayday, grandpa farmed about 200 acres. And his biggest was an oliver 1800. And that was back when they still turned the soil instead of this no-till and tons of chemicals

Well, it's a 54 row at 20 inch spacing and the dealer has two of these planters for sale. They expect them to sell locally and this area and west of here has plenty of flat ground to use. Maybe not in other parts of Ohio but around here is OK. They also sell around the world so who knows for sure.
Price---drumroll please---is $275,000 and tractor is $250,000. Not sure if actual retail or just selling price but for $525,000 you're in biz. Then again, the tractor probably holds 300 gallons of fuel so pony up another $1,200 or so for a fill-up.
