We will probably still mowing the grass in shorts and tee shirts after Thanksgiving. But here is the real oddity. There have been a LOT of our northern friends (we call them d*mn yankees, that's the ones that come here and don't go back /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) move here in recent years. Come September they start wearing long sleeves (temps still in the 90's). Come late September, they start wearing jackets (temps in the 80's). By October they begin complaining about how cold it is (lows might make it to 50). Force of habit I guess. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

But we see the opposite up here.

A few years ago I attended a work related conference in Phoenix in February. One morning I was sitting out by the pool reading the paper and enjoying a cup of coffee in my shirt sleeves. The temp was around 52 degrees or so. A few people walked by who were wearing sweaters and/or jackets. One guy stopped and asked me if I wasn't cold. (Duh - I'm sitting there that way, aren't I?) I politely replied that I was not. When he asked where I was from and said Wisconsin, he said, "Well, no wonder!" /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And more recently, we have a new Pastor at our church. He just started back in July, and he came here from South Carolina. During the summer up until Labor Day, we have our early worship service (8:15 a.m.) outside in the parking lot. We arrived before the service on the Sunday before Labor Day, and here's Jared wearing a fleece jacket, gloves, and a headband. I was wearing a polo shirt, shorts and sandals. Temperature was about 48 degrees. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Same here, Garry! When Tamara and I visit the in-laws in Daytona Beach every November we walk along the beach in shorts and t-shirts while all the locals are bundled up like a blizzard is coming. And in Vermont come May when there might still be three feet of snow on the ground but the sun is out, the locals are wearing shorts and shades while the visitors look like the Michelin Man.

On the other hand, I've never seen so many pasty white legs as on a gathering of Vermonters in late winter! Pete

They're wearing jackets (and coats) in Edmonton already too - with good cause . This photo was taken yesterday and was in the local paper.

Have you ever noticed that when it's 45 deg in the fall, people are wearing mittens, but when it is 35 in the spring the shorts come out?
