Holy Cow...what a tool. Mind you I was spinning like a madman trying to learn to use a skid steer for the first time, but that Harley Rake (T6 model) was just plain awesome!! The skidsteer was a New Holland LS160 or something like that. Made my rough, pitted, dirt yard a flat, clean dirt table that I seeded. In about three hours I collected ten full skidsteer buckets of rocks, I imagine each bucket weighed a ton or more. And rain prevented me from doing more. What a great implement. Would have taken me literally a week full time to do it by hand.

Sure would love to own one of them there skid steers...

Laminarman,

I plan to do the same thing for my parents yard. What was the cost to rent? How much of an area did you cover in 3 hours? Also any suggestions on using it or pictures would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Sounds like an efficient way to do things. How much area did you rake? And, if you don't mind me asking, how much was the rental?

I'll have to try to get a digi picture posted, it's night right now. I actually have a rolling, graded, odd lot, but did use the rake on about 12,000 square feet, some of it quite sloped, so figure I cleaned a quarter acre in three hours, without any experience. The rental was $265 for the whole weekend for the skidsteer and $240 for the whole weekend for the rake, and $175 total for delivery, pickup, fuel, shop time (30 miles each way). Due to widespread floods this year up here, the rake is in demand and the price went up, but usually it's around $595 for the weekend package including delivery and pickup. I'll try to post photos this weekend. If you've never driven a skidsteer, way more productive for bucket work than a tractor, WAAAAAAY more productive.

I rented a harley rake from the local NH dealer for 150. a day. If you get it on Sat you can have it an additional day for 75. I raked approximately 4 1/2 acres with it. ( one day ) Slick machine that really works well.
