Just wondering if you guys know what a WR long tooth bar cost??

It will be of the flat-bottom type and for ~58-60" inside width. Not sure on the measurment. Kubota LA463 60" bucket.

I think long is about the only brand I can go with without just making my own. Mainly because they dont go as deep into the top side of the bucket. And I have a fork pocket in each corner of the bucket that I us frequently. So eliminating them is out.

The Idea is IF I buy a Long, I wont attach it they way they normally do. I will just use a peice of 2x2 tube on each end and attach them in my existing fork pocket.

But since it is the weekend, I can call them for pricing. The cost of GOOD theeth are pretty $$$. So I am weighing spending ~$100-$150 for just the teeth, and then comming up with everything else to make my own VS ?????however much a WR Long one costs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a pic of my fork pocket so you can see why one like a gator/matkham or ATI wouldn't work without extensive modification.

Just got a quote from WR Long for the Flat bottom bar.

$292 + ~$25 shipping.
One of these Tooth Bars TB, STB, and ITB

Now I am still trying to decide wether to spend the money on one of these, or buy my own teeth and make one, or just buy weld on teeth and be done????

The cheapest I found the teeth and shanks was at ATI and they were ~$10 for the shanks and ~$5 for the teeth.

Anyone know of any place cheaper???

Well, I may have came up with a fourth option.

I really dont want to weld teeth on. TOO permanent.

Cant really go with a tooth-bar for reasons above.

So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with individual bolt on teeth??

Bobcat Bucket Teeth

Seems like it will be a good bit cheaper than a tooth bar, yet still removable.

How difficult is it to drill a cutting edge??? Had anyone got any other suggestions?

Yea, I was looking at the iowa farms toothbars, and the pictures look ALOT like the pictures on WR Longs website???????

But I didnt see the flat ones on Iowa farms website.

But I'd guess they are about the same $300 as any toothbar out there.

For me, I think it is just too much money for what I want to spend.

I am seriously looking at the individual bolt on teeth. For ~$10 each, I am only looking at about 70 bucks for 7 of them. And I can deal with the 14 bolts vs the two of a tooth bar. An impact will make quick work of them. And I dont forsee taking them off but maybe once per year. All I need is a good way of drilling the cutting edge now.

I think maybe I'll start a new thread, Now that my Ideas have changed.

You really need to think long and hard about mounting them to the bucket directly-how thick is the edge?

The MAJOR advantage of a toothbar is that it captures the cutting edge and supports/reinforces it across the whole width of the bucket, essentially doubling the strength.

The Iowa farms looks like a flat bar to me. Could be I don't know what I am looking at. A friend of mine welded a plate on the bottom of his bucket. He then drilled and countersunk the individual teeth for flat head head socket head screws (two holes for each tooth). He then match drilled the holes in his bucket from the holes in the teeth. He used this setup for several years before he sold the tractor. It worked very well.

I believe it is a 1/2" x 6" cutting edge. But it may be a 3/8", not really sure at the moment.

It is a LA463 kubota loader.

Keep in mind that it is not an overly strong loader. Lift capacity @ the edge is only ~850lbs.

I have dug out pleanty smaller stumps, catching them in the center of the cutting edge (after pleandt of dirt was excavated all around) and prying them out. Cutting edge is still straight as an arrow.

Edit, I have also thought about adding a gusset inside the bucket like you see on some older HD buckets. I may go ahead and do this anyway.

Iowa Farms does not show the flat toothbar on their web site, but when you call to order one, they will ask you if you want the regular or flat one. My 60" flat toothbar (actual size was a little smaller) was $325 shipped. The regulare one was the same price. It's a very heavy duty bar. I had to put a few washers between the bucket mounting area where is bolts in. No big deal. I also welded the mounting nuts to the bar itself so that I only have to use one wrench to unbolt it.
