Let me throw out a disclaimer. I become extremely confused very quickly when it comes to hydraulics and quick couplers. I have always thought why these things can't be a bit more universal for all tractors and attachments but I am sure there is a reason.
I recently installed a WR Long 3rd function valve on my tractor. I plumbed the lines to the FEL and installed the male and female quick couplers on the bracket attached to the cross support on the boom. Three days ago I picked up my new grapple. The grapple did not come with couplers that would work with my WR Long set up. I photographed my couplers and went to town. I went to three different hydraulic shops and tractor supply. No one had the couplers used by WR Long. They all told me based on my photo it appeared to be an uncommon shaped coupler. So I came home and got online and tried to order from WR Long but ended up having to order from Iowa Farm Supply. I have a nice new grapple on the tractor but I am reduced to making noises with my mouth and imagining the thumb going up and down until my additional couplers come in.
Since I have ordered a set of couplers I will wait a week until they get here. But for in the future could I have used any common 3/8" piped male female couplers on this or is there more you have to take into consideration?
I just don't know why WR Long would not use a more common coupler design.
