Wrecked my truck yesterday

Looks like you are set for next couple of years.

Several of my friends, my brother and a co worker are all truck shopping right now.

My bet is they all come home with 2015-16 F150... sure do seem to be popular right now and at some are looking at 50k before taxes and license...

I understand Ford changed the electronic interface between the 15 and 16 model and that is about it.

So at least one XL, one Lariat, one King Ranch and one Platinum may be soon leaving Dealer lots...

The F-150's are sure enough nice. I would likely own one if I didn't need to tow so heavy.

They limit out at 12,200 which seems like a lot for a turbo 6 cylinder...

Then again, unless towing a RV in my State... anything over 10k pounds needs a commercial or upgraded license to tow.

I found it hard to believe an F150 can MSRP in the mid 60k range... my first house was $11,500!

The unbelievable prices of new trucks warrants a whole new thread.

I am of the opinion that extended-term financing (6+ years) and leasing have allowed prices to rise so high.

In other words, the financing available has allowed prices to rise, and not that rising prices have resulted in longer-term financing.

I agree. To further derail the thread I think this is exactly what is going on with the rapidly rising costs of a college education. Easy govmt subsidized loans with long term repayment makes the average person not care about what it costs and just what their payment will be. It took me a long time of saving and discipline but I now buy my vehicles with cash. Heck I am nearly 40 and I never bought a brand new vehicle until 2012.

I was going to mention the student loan situation as I had seen some recent research showing the "cause and effect" of easy loans.

Almost 57 years old, have bought 6 or 7 new vehicles and a few used ones, and have never had a car/truck loan.

And never will.
