Kubota B2910
It's time to replace the filters/fluids on my 2002 Kubota b2910....it's been a great tractor. I prefer to use WIX filters, and I noticed a different PN for the hydraulic filter on the Wix website. I figured perhaps Wix had updated their PN's since this tractor is several years old. I had a PN57089 on the tractor, but the website showed a PN 51551 for the filter, now. I went to the store, and immediately noticed that the 51551 was Way Too Big...both diameter, and mounting hole thread size. Needless to say, I didn't buy that part, and have since notified Wix that they have a mistake on their web site applications list. If you have one of these older tractors, double check for the correct PN's...might save yourself a trip back to the store.

Why not get the correct one for Kubota, WIX horrible crossover specs a plastic mesh screen filter for both fuel filters on my BX when it should be a water blocking paper filter for diesel fuel.

I'm not afraid to use aftermarket filters, but I use only Kubota hydraulic filters on my L39. The Kubota filter is just a better filter and the internal pressure relief setting is per OEM, not a one will work probably okay for all. For Oil & Air, or most Diesel Fuel filters, a good filter is OK to substitute IMHO.

I second both replies on using Kubota vs. WIX. I have always felt OEM's overpriced their parts particularly KUBOTA and I liked NAPA so why not save some $$ and use WIX filters since all of the B26 filters crossed over? Months after the tractor's last servicing (400 hrs.) I started chasing hydraulic whine and cold weather performance problems that became more pronounced as winter set in, even put an oil heater on the hyd. oil tank (which helped). It got so bad that the tractor would stall on real cold mornings without the tank heater and more than reasonable warm up time. Everything I read and heard suggested; 1) the pump itself is fairly bullet proof and not likely to be the cause, 2) symptoms pointed toward the pump cavitation either from being oil starved due to higher viscosity of cold oil and/or partial line blockage, or air leaking into return line to pump. The oil used before and after the last servicing was Kubota's Super UDT so not a candidate and after replacing the rubber return line elbow at the pump I ruled out air leakage, all I had left were the 2 WIX hydraulic filters installed at the last service and the pump. When it warmed up enough to work on the tractor, I changed out both WIX HYD. and HST oil filters for Kubota filters. The whine immediately quieted down particularly on cooler mornings. I'm still waiting for next winter and a real cold morning to check the stalling issue but based on improvement I've seen after the switch, those filters had to be major contributors if not the culprit. To those who have had good luck with WIX, I'll just say - so had I up until the last service. As had been said many times before, why risk a $20(+) K piece of machinery to save a few bucks on parts. Use Kubota oil and filters.

I tell people you might get by with another filter for the hydraulics but many times there is no cross for a Kubota hydro/ charge pump filter.
