It would be fun to engineer such a fence though. It can't be made of steel and expect to be effective unless it's manned. There are too many portable and battery powered tools out there that can go through steel easily.

And personally I can't see the value of the fence besides making a poltical statement. And it is a valuable statement, what? a hundred to two hundred dollars a linear foot? Close to a billion (B) dollars plus consider the maintenance... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

We're dealing with people looking for a better life for themselves and their family. All we have to do is look what we're willing to do in this pursuit and a fence is not much of an obstacle when you consider working two jobs and going to school at the same time.

In California, they put in miles and miles of 12 foot tall cocrete block walls along the freeways for a million dollars a mile.

When it was proposed, there was allot of debate in the papers and the local news about how ugly it would look and the waste of money it will be. Caltrans did it anyway and once it got started and the benifits became obvious, the critics disapeared.

PS nobody is trying to stop legal immagration with a wall and prevent those who want to come here the oportunity to work and make a better living. My parents both did it the legal way and are both now naturalized citizens.

Every time I turned around in Iraq I was stepping on some Haliburton or KBR guy.

I joke with my friends that I think that war might have been started just to boost Haliburton stock.

My parents both did it the legal way and are both now naturalized citizens. 

I imagine 99% of us can trace our roots to immigrants. The difference was they did it legally, they worked hard to learn English and just plain worked hard to make it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
