WTB: drawbar

   / WTB: drawbar #11
You hit the nail on the head Roger, the old Ford's only had the three point draw bar. They came with a set of stabilizer bars to lock it at the correct hieght and the lock to keep it from truning in the balls. One dissingaged the lift when the draw bar was used. But farmers being farmers, they seldom used them. We like to think we are fast enough to catch it. I remember a neighbor pulling his pick up truck with one, was on a black top road. When the truck driver let the clutch out the tractor came over backwards so fast he never knew what happened. Truck didn't start, tractor didn't get damaged, buried him that week.

Roger,
Thanks for the note. Knowing how many times my fat american thighs hit the 3pt level of the narrow japaneese tractor, I really didnt want a trailer handing off the 3pt.

Inspector 507, where can you get that drawbar lock. I cobbled one.. but a factory one like that is much nicer than mine.

Tractor supply co. carries at least one size of swinging drawbar.. perhaps a few measurements might make the determination.

WOW

Frightening article Roger_Scotty! That'll certainly keep me hooking things up to the fixed drawbar.

When I purchase my YM336 the fellow who dropped it off (from the dealer) pointed out that ROPS only work if you're wearing the seat belt. It's a good point, and one of these days I'll point out to him that the seatbelt is rusted shut...(another project for the week-free the seat belt!).

Keepin' the Greasy side DOWN,

"....very worthwhile reading at that url. Makes me think my prior actions may have been just dumb luck. Jerry YM1700 2WD "

Jerry, I feel the same way. I know that I used to use (and recommend) that same stupid 3pt drawbar before I figured it out. And my prior actions were just dumb luck too. I can even remember being in odd positions with that drawbar and having the tractor start to lift....With my typical bullheadedness I would simply reposition everything and try again. Probably the only thing that saved me from myself was a natural tendency is to go slow and feather the clutch rather than to yank on something.

Is there a safe way to pull trees out of woods with a 3 pt draw bar, and what advantage is a frame mount if the 3 pt stays low? thanks, bw

The tsc drawbars are flat. the Yanmar are round.

I mounted a 2" trailer ball on my box scraper and use that to move trailers around. I can also wrap a chain around it for pulling. I keep the box low so that it will bottom out if the load is too heavy. That way I can't do the 'back flip' thing. I also have a loader which adds a lot of weight up front.
