X series PTO Clutch revisited

I'm thinking the same thing. The dealer say's they did just that 2 weeks ago and found nothing wrong with any of the pulleys and idlers. When I have a chance I think it's time to pop the deck belt and spin them individually myself, although the noise very much sounds like it's at the front. In the past I have used a non-contact (infrared) thermometer on various points of the deck to see if I could see any particular hot spots after running the machine for 30 or more minutes but that's proven nothing so far.

Naturally the 'bad' part is that it hasn't been particularly noisy for the last 3 or so hours of run time.... makes it hard to troubleshoot.

that isn't my model don't know where that came from. mine is a x500 john deere

It is now 3 years later since the above post and time did tell. My X500 has only 60 hours on it and the clutch had to be replaced. The replacement part number on the invoice is AM141536.

Hi all I have a 2013 X360 with 130 hours. The machine is used year round to mow a 1.5 acres and snow blow a 200 foot drive. The Deere started making a high pitched whine today that changed when the PTO was engaged. Looks like I need a new PTO but it's still under warranty. I had a LX280 with 300 hours on it before the clutch let go so at only 130 hrs it's very discouraging. I looked up the part number on the Deere site and it still uses a AM141536.
