X300 Engine problem

Who makes the engine for this model?

The engine is an air cooled Kawasaki twin with 17 HP. (X300) Should be a pretty good engine. If a push rod is repeatedly jumping off, then I would suspect a bad valve spring, or a valve guide problem. I would want to have the engine replaced with so few hours on the machine. How much more is the X320? It has 22HP, and the engine is larger in displacement.

I have had really good luck with my Kaw engines, (2003 Bayou ATV and an older log splitter) so was looking at new lawn mowers with another Kaw engine. Hope this is resolved to your satisfaction.

I'd pressure the dealer to replace with X310. It's a newer model with more features. Don't know what the cost difference would be but maybe the dealer, as a gesture of goodwill, would be willing to cover all or part of the difference? If he's not willing to deal then just follow the warranty, in there some place is probably language related to lemon (or words to that effect) replacement.

The X300 and X310 are basically the same tractor - the X310 has power steering and hydraulic lift added, which is why it has a different model number.

The x310 also has the k58H transmission which is a step up over the k46.
