X300 snowthrower throws belt

I did not bother with the 44 inch snowblower for the LA115 again this year as I did not have the money for replacement V belts almost which are almost $300.00 AND the bloody snow blower can only use JD supplied V belts AND the substitute GATES A115 V belt cannot be used for the driven V belt. It is easier for me to just keep the battery tender plugged in for the battery on the la115 as they are almost $85.00 each now and the cost of electricity to keep the battery up is less than the cost of a new battery every year.

To use the "A" V belts I have to have all the pulleys being 8 of them machined to accept A size V belts for both the mower deck and the snow blower.
It takes 4 hours to remove the parts needed to take the old belt out and install the new one also. I would have to cut the cross brace in half to make the repair faster.

Plus the dealer that sold me the lawn mower in 2011 shipped the snow blower without all the parts as RAD shipped hundreds of these snow blowers from Canada short of parts and I only found this out as a good friend from another JD dealership found a service bulletin from john deere detailing which snow blower models were shipped short of parts from the manufacturer "RAD"

I will not buy another product from these folks again and being told "you get what you pay for" by another dealer for pissed me off even more as spending almost 4K for a lawn mower and snow blower and snow chains that did not fit should have given me a better product.

When a pair of 20 and 12 year old single stage 2 cycle engine Toro Snow Pups(S200 and CCR GTS3000) can out perform a 2 stage snow blower using a 19 horse power engine something tells me the product quality is poor and the dealer that I bough the product from is not all that great either.

PS the snow plow I bought for it is another POS.

My X300 with a 44 inch snowthrower keeps throwing the belt in heavy wet snow. It's on its fourth season and the units stay together all year long because I use another machine for grass and leaves. The belt jumps off the left sheave and out of the guide. The guide bent away from the rim of the sheave. After refastening the belt I bent the guide back into a vertical position. The machine behaved itself until I was pushing/throwing a large heavy pile to the driveway edge, then it threw the belt again. What am I missing? How close should the guide be to the sheave? It is getting harder for my 72 year old carcass to work on things but I won't stop until they pry my wrench from my cold dead fingers. ;)

Replaced guide and belt and have not had enough snow to really test it. It worked okay on some sissy stuff though. Got a feeling I was just too aggressive with the icy, chunky heavy stuff. Thanks everyone for your kind and helpful replies.

See post #9.

The spring loaded idler is the problem. When the thrower is under heavy load the belt will stretch with the engine power pulses and then relax in between the pulses. When the belt it stretched, the idler moves to tighten the belt, when the belt is relaxed, the belt forces the idler back causing it to bounce. At certain engine RPM this action is magnified by the resonance of the system.

The fix is to limit the movement of the idler.

Thanks, Richard. I'll keep that in mind.
