The mower has been parked for a couple of months. Now, it starts right up, but neither forward nor reverse pedals will move it at all. This is completely new- it worked fine when I parked it (in a garage) last.

The mower PTO engages fine, and the blades spin as they should. It just won't go anywhere.

The pedals feel a little softer, as though there is less resistance, to me. When I shut if off, I am able to push the whole mower backwards easily.

Searching around, I am not finding much... bypass valve? And there was a complaint about the belt slipping off a pulley, but I can't see enough to verify or not.

Any ideas? Common causes? I am trying to find a decent diagram of the pedal connections in the manual.

there is a bypass valve for the hydr,
look at the back of the tractor, on
the transmission, for a brass rod, usually
has a 90 degree bend at the end, if it is
pulled out, you are in "neutral" so to speak.
push it in, and try to move again.

and verify the belt is on, and spinning
the transmission, you should be able
to see that from the back with the park
brake on and engine running.

Thanks, Dutch, I will give that a try when I get home tonight. Maybe the results will be helpful to others with the same issue.

If it doesn't resolve it... I'll be back!

Sometimes, with my X300R stored in the garage, I'll pull the transmission rod into neutral and walk the tractor around to get it parked out of the way. It's easier to get it close to the wall, etc. by pushing it around versus driving it.

'Course the next Spring (if I'm not thinking) I've been known to fire it up and take off... er, not so fast..

sounds like one of the variable speed pullies are stuck where its not gripping the belt to make it pull. Tapping lightly with a hammer on the side may help to break it loose. zman

Just a follow up to say thanks to Dutch, that was exactly the problem.

I cram the B2320 and the X300 in the garage during the week, and I have to back the X300 in on an angle to make it fit. I believe the disconnect rod backed into the FEL enough to depress it, and there was my "problem". Never even knew that bypass was there.

Thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction!

glad it was an easy fix,
it's always best to start with
the easiest solutions and rule
them out!
