Thanks, Crazyal. It's not an issue of it shutting down when I get off the machine (that was Beenthere's comment). I knew about the parking brake, so can set it to keep the engine running if I step off (you do need to shut down the mower deck, which is no problem).

Thanks for the shimming suggestions, folks. I'll take a look at that, at least until the seat breaks in a bit.

Grsthegreat - I'm working on your chocolate, pizza & beer based solution, but it's a slow process and takes some real dedicated effort. Our only local store just switched away from being general store, and got out of the pizza making business, which is a real bummer. Fortunately, they are now in the chocolate business, and some of their stuff is really good. In fact, I just stopped by to pick up a supply - purely to help address the tractor seat switch issue, of course. Since my wife does some of the mowing, I got a little something to help her as well.

If anyone else is having seat switch issues, and wishes to address them while supporting a great little store (which is growing, but struggling during these tough times), they do mail order: Alderman's of Vermont Chocolates The home page currently features two of my favorites: Salted Chocolate Caramels and Chocolate Covered Pretzels. Try the "Shop Now" tab to check out their other selections. The Chocolate Bacon Bar and the Maple Chocolate Bacon Bar are also very good - available in Milk or Dark chocolate.
