John Deere X595
I have a 2001 X595 with the 62C mower deck and about 1050 hrs and had my first break down. I was mowing the back yard at my church and all of a sudden, the tractor just died. I first looked at the temp gauge and it was fine. I then noticed a large wet spot all around my left front tire area. I got off the tractor and upon looking closer, the wet spot was diesel fuel. I opened the hood and noticed that the front fuel line on the fuel filter had seperated from the housing. The hose was still connected to this fitting if that is what you would call it. I was able to push this (90 degree) fitting back into the filter and it kind of snapped back in like maybe it was pressed in to begin with. I then took a zip tie and wrapped it around the top of the filter housing and the fitting to keep the fitting in place. It took a few times trying to start the tractor as it had to prime it's self. It worked fine after that. I did order a new filter which the dealer just called and said it was in. I did need a new filter as the shut off value wasn't working probably from lack of use. Dealer said he had never heard of that happening before and I was just wondering if any one else has had this happen?

Curt , thanks for sharing your story and any follow up information you may have ... Did you buy your Tractor new ??? [Your first break down] , In 8 years , that's not bad ... I had to replace my Fan/Alternator belt last week , which was my first repair , the construction of it had separated as you can see ...

Yes, that was my first break down and I'm picking the new filter up today.

I had a x495 AWS and sold it to buy my 4310 and still wish I could have afforded both. With all the trouble with the 2305, I cannot understand why more people do not choose the x- series.

I have around 720 trouble free hours now on my X595. I replaced two of the mower deck wheels but that is it. John Deere hit a home run on the X series diesel tractor. I wouldn't mind seeing a styling change as I still think they are a little on the ugly side but overall I am impressed.

I've heard rumors of a split between Yammar and Deere with respect to supplying diesel engines. I hope it is just that, a rumor. That little Yanmar is one sweet engine.
