Thank you dannyk!

It was very simple installing broom attachment and front PTO.

Here is a photo of the broom & X728.

I especially like the rear wheel weights - an advantage in close quarters over hanging an implement on the rear.

Snowblower... It is work to get the drive shaft in place from the mid pto to the front axle. Once that's done, the quick attach is heavy, but not too unwieldly. The blower goes on easy. I have mine on a dolly and move it in front of the tractor, hook up the hyro lines, and it's a 10 second job after that, with no labour. Drift shaft from blower to the front axle is very easy. Unhooking the blower is easy too. Put the dolly under the blower, lower the blower, unhook the hydro lines and driveshart....and done. I can take off my blade and hook up my blower or visa versa in 3 minutes, with no effort.

The mower is quite easy and no sub frame. The quick hitch does have to come off, then there is a bracket that "hangs' the front of the mover deck off the ground. Next is to line up the rear arms that lift the deck for the mowing height. The pto hook up is a pain, especially if you don't do it regularly. On the ground for sure. It is a 5 minute job when I remember to do everything in the right order. No real muscles needed, more finese than anything else.

Hope this helps.

i have x728 for snow blowing however it sucks at mowing with the 7 iron. It over heats after 10 minutes of use. The reason is chaff builds up on radiator. You have to stop clean it out and start and go again. This slows me down the x500 is way better.

Well, I'm getting older and I have to make some changes so I can stay on my property as long as possible. It's getting harder for me to use my walk-behind snowblower and also to take off and remove the mower on my Kubota B7500. (It was never easy.)

So I've been looking at the John Deere X728, and I notice that the "7-iron" mower allows a person to simply drive over the mower to install it. Just what I need, although I suppose there are still some contortions required to install the PTO shaft.

Here's my question: If I buy an X728 with the 47-inch quick hitch snowblower and the 7-iron mower, how easy is it to switch from blower to mower and back in the spring and the fall? It's hard to get this information from the web. There must be sub-frames for both the mower and the blower, so the question is can the two sub-frames remain attached more or less permanently, or is there a lot of hardware to take off and put on each season?

I really do appreciate all informed replies!

Danny

(PS: Don't need the diesel - got that covered.)
