The X500 machines are good snowblowers. They have ample HP and their chassis design keeps the appropriate geometry for good traction in rough conditions. I am a big advocate for ballast. The 500 series can accept wheel weights and rear 42# QUICK TACH weights and I support both. Chains would also help and with the combination you would have one tough snow removal machine. Not as good as a 700 but pretty good nonetheless.

I think the X500 would do a good job blowing snow but I would prefer to use the 2720 with more ground clearance if given the choice. The advantage in my view to using the X500 for the snowblowing is you leave the tractor free to do other tasks and the mower isn't needed to cut the grass in the winter.
Just something to weight the pro's and con's on, either machine will do the job.

In my case I have three tractors of similiar physical size that can share the implements I have without problems. I wanted a smaller machine to fit where the other tractors can't go, so after much thought and consideration decided to go with the X749, 48" deck, 540 rear pto and 3pt hitch. The 4ws and 4x4 make it very manueverable with good traction and the diesel makes it cheap to operate. I also like the 3pt control better than the 2305 setup. Overall the X749 is a good match to use with the other tractors i have and I am very satisfied with the total blend of their capabilities.

I hope your pair of machines coincides as well for your needs.

Perhaps I'll look into the blower for the X500 and some rear chains. Might be nice having the 2720 out there with its bucket and the 500 blowing....

I'm very happy with my X585 (similar equivilant to the X728) with the 47" blower and 54" blade. It works well with small snowfalls to blade quickly then blow the 2' rows away. It takes 2 minutes to switch from the blade to blower--pull 2 pins, drop the blade, disconnect 2 hoses, drive up/hook up to the blower, attach 2 hoses, attach the short driveshaft.

I'm not sure I'd want to not have 4x4 on the X series if I was blowing snow. True the weights on the back will help, but when it's a bit icy...not too sure how well that would work. Then again, I've always had the 4x4 so I could be wrong about not having it.

Having a dedicated mower/blower works well. I use the 2720/FEL for some clearing/piling where the blade/blower can't go and leaving the FEL on no doubt speeds the process up.

Last comment is the mower off/quick attach/blower on. Very easy and a 5 minute job max--probably a lot quicker if done more than twice per year! You can't have the mower on while using the blower, the driveshaft for the blower hits the mower.

My X475 blows just fine, as far as traction goes. I have 6 JD weights on back, and the Gator style ATV tires. It does great, and I'm sure bare ice would strand me, but snow, and run down snow is no issue at all for it. It will still drive thru 6 inches of snow with the blower raised and shut off.

My property is all 100% level tho, so Hills would be a challenge for sure.

Well I can not complain of no assistance (why does that sound like improper English).

Very much appreciated everyone.
