XP is coming to an end on 4-8...What to do?

at 40 MB hard drive, it isn't even good to use as an external hard drive or backup anymore....

Do you mean a 40 Gig drive? 40 Meg would only hold a couple mp3 files. Hard to believe though that back in the DOS days 40 meg was considered huge.

But ... I doubt many XP-suitable machines can run 8 very well.

Seems to me the choices are continue with XP for a while, or buy something with 8 pre-installed.
