Oil & Fuel xr 4046 oil filter offense !

well, I figured it's time to do some main tain ance on my beloved tractor, drove 2 hours one way to the dealership for an oil filter, the parts man kindly told me that would be $36.40 I politely said thats absurd and left empty handed. Is there a cross reference for that filter (40283380) ? or does any one know the nipple thread size ? Thank You .

If you go to the Wix website, your tractor is listed in the lookup guide. For a long time, there was no info for LS tractors, but it is there now.

But the Wix site still does not list the oil filter for the current Boomers that are made by LS.

A New Holland filter could be an option. Messicks sells the oil filter for the current XR series for $13.52

I use Rock Auto for my filters. For my tractor, the WIX WL7426 works perfectly. Its a bit longer, maybe 1/4in if memory serves, over the stock LS brand, but it works just fine. $6.12

i bought 2 40318591 ls oil filters today from ja riggs tractor in jonesboro ar for $11.94 out the door tax and all.last one i bought there was $17. i couldnt believe the low price,i even ask the guy if he was sure about price.so if any of yall are in arkansas theres several ja riggs stores in the state.my tractor is a xr4155hc but several models use the same filter

The LS tractor filters dropped WAY down in price about 4-6 months ago. I had my dealer tell me beforehand that LS was "reworking" all of the maintenance and regular parts prices. Filters prices lowered to compete with the auto parts stores. I had a whole list made up on Rock Auto, so once he gave me his price, I found that the dealer was just slightly lower....
