I dont.
I got a quote of $37,650 for an LS XR4155H with FEL, 6 ft rotary cutter, 6 ft box blade and 20 ft tandem axle 10k lb trailer. I saw an identical package for $32,500 (10 hour drive to get it, still not $5k of fuel). Why such a drastic difference? You think I can get my local dealer closer to the $32k price?

I would show the dealer the lower price tell him if they want the sale then they have to match the lower price. If they get within $1000 it would be worth it. You would have to spend $200 to $300 in fuel cost to drive 10 hours & your time is worth something.

Is the lower price ou of state?

Are the attachments and trailer identical?
There could pretty easily be $6k worth of difference if the one is including name brand equipment and the other is including poor quality stuff. Trailers vary in price quite a bit regionally around the country.
Think carefully before you buy from a dealer you have no way of getting warranty service through. While the chances you will need warranty work are 50/50, most small dealers don’t want to do warranty work on tractors they didn’t sell.
I myself have needed two new parts under warranty, but my tractor is 300 miles from the dealer I bought it from. In both cases, I just called up my dealer and he sent me the part and I changed it out.

The low price sounds too good to be true. Any other dealers less than 10 hours away that you can compare prices with?

I had two LS dealers within 100 miles and both were within $500 of each other. They have room to negotiate a bit, but not $5k.

The low price is out of state, Alabama. I am working with the other two dealers that are within reasonable distance to see what they can do as a comparison. Trailers are not exact, no, but rated the same at the axles and same length. I will have a better idea of what's what once I get some more information from the surrounding dealers. I appreciate all the help.

How does the initial quote sound? High, Low, Right on?

The 'Bama dealer that posts all over the place has been said to include 'economy' attachments and trailers. Might be OK for the more casual homeowner hobby farmer type, but if you have more serious intentions you may be replacing things in a couple of years.

That first quote seems good to me. A bit expensive maybe, but ball park. I spent ~$33K a few years ago on an XR4145C with tiller and box blade. So youre getting a "bigger" tractor with HST and a trailer for slightly more than I paid.

*Just noticed that you said "XR4155H" not CH. Hmm.... Maybe a bit high. But probably still in ball park. Talk with the dealers, get them to compete for your business.

Just looking at base tractor with FEL price I have:

1. $31,750 (original package deal)
2. $29,400
3. $29,000 (rough quote over the phone)

Waiting on one more call back.

If you gave us an idea where you're located ... you might get more "local" guidance?

I have an ls dealer close to my house he gets 25 k for the xr 4150 h , my buddy just bought the xr 4140 for 23900. i know the 55hp version is a turbo so it is more, but i would look around for sure.

Call John Ryan at RCO Tractor in Austin. Tell him I gave you his name. He's an owner and will treat you well.

RCO Tractor - New & Used Agricultural Equipment Sales, Service, and Parts with locations in Spicewood and Greenville, TX

They can deliver you a tractor from either Austin or Greenville but ... Sounds like you're closer to Austin? 2 hours south of DFW is an hour from Austin? Are you in a witness protection program?

I've bought two tractors from John.

It's about a 20 minute difference to either dealer. I prefer Spicewood even though its the longer drive but it keeps me from having to go through Dallas. I spoke with John and passed me off to Alex in Greenville based on stock. Waiting on a call back now.

Yep, they sure will! John is still taking care of me!

I bought my XR4140HC from John. RCO is a good dealer.

Also watch out for those "package deals". Many of them have junk attachments. Very lightweight and rust through in no time. A light weight box blade is going to take a beating with an XR4155.

My dealer, who is also a Woods dealer, made his own package for me. I got Woods box blade and tiller with my tractor. Cant go wrong with that!
