Went on kinda a nasty call today....some guy was on a little Massy (I didnt get the model # but Id say it was 25hp ish and around 4000lbs) with a loader and a bb. He dove it off the side of the road down a STEEP embankment to get a load of rock he and a neighbor had delivered, and some of it rolled alittle far down the embankment when the truck unloaded it. I think they were finishing up a culvert project they had started. Well this thing had no ROPS and was very narrow. So he got down the embankment and got a load of rock then tried to come back up and the tractor would'nt make it (it was quite steep!!!). So his neighbor who had a NICE kubota 3830 with a woods backhoe (which they should have used even though it would have taken longer with the hoes 24" bucket) and ROPS, hooked a chain to his loader.......and then tried to pull him out by pulling in an adjacent direction (because thats the way the road way went) which of course caused his tractor to simply hop side hill till it.....of course rolled sideways over on top of him. It was in a rural area so it took us about 20 minutes to get to him.....he was still pinned under the thing.......no pulse.....we used the hyd spreaders to lift the tractor enough to pull him out and had an air ambulance come in.....did cpr for quite a while......to no avail......dead......no head crushing injuries or anything he just couldnt breathe with all that weight on him and he asphysiated. Thew a blanket over him and tried to help his neighbors with their emotions.......sheriffs deputy headed down the road a short ways to tell his wife......man......a few moments of stupidity.......he had a beautiful place.......probably worked long and hard to get the pretty 40 acre spread he was on......driving back to the station we drove past the sheriffs officer consoling his poor wife......anyways.....YA'LL BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!
