Y'all Been Checkin' Lumber Prices?

Inflation is not the only metric to consider when looking at how prices increase. Increasing the money supply will devalue the buying power of money and cause prices to rise because the money is not worth as much anymore. This is what is happening now, the Fed has increased the money supply by 20% since 2020 started. Think about that, 20% increase in one year. That is how we have 2% inflation according to the Fed, be we all feel and see the rapid increase in price everyday.

This is a dangerous game and I hope the Fed can manage this. Other countries that have done this have seen hyperinflation that eventually leads to stagflation. Stagflation has a very high correlation to depression type economies.

There's talk of raising the federal minimum wage. While I agree that 7.50$/hr isn't enough, I also know that when our state minimum went up so did prices.

On that note:

No commentary intended on my part beyond sharing the article since there's some rather ....interesting history around the concept of minimum wage (and that article was just the first I found that talked about it).

Competition will always exist .... and sometimes humans don't "win" (even when it comes to something like retaining a position they previously held).

minimum wage should never be a career goal.

When I was young and started working full time, my friends always said they wanted to make a salary equal to their age. We were 21 years old and making $15,000 annually as accountants.

Or - don’t drive a car. Walk or bike.

Don’t fly in a plane. Walk or bike.

Don’t use gas powered equipment to mow or take care of the lawn. Push mowers are still available.

Don’t eat beef as cows fart.

Most always point to others as offenders but rarely do anything themselves. What they do is reasonable and conservative. What others do is excess.

Sure, we get other people to do our heavy lifting. We've been doing that for years. That way we can just give up fixing anything. You have a point about making choices. I saw a women driving ZTM, that was just a bit smaller than the lawn she was mowing. My first thought is 'what the heck!', but it could be she was mowing for someone else that couldn't do the lawn care anymore. Then we make incorrect correlations such as eating cows as the cause, eating beef doesn't cause increased methane production.

I thought eating beans increased methane production..

It’s mostly cows burping that releases most of the methane. But that takes the humor out of it. :giggle:

You and me both.

I’ve done my thing and am now in phase 2.

I have a very nice couch.
