Y'all been checkin' Propane prices?

I remember paying 32.9 cents a gallon for Atlantic Imperial in my early driving days. I also remember bringing home $43.09 per week at the time. I smoked then and non-filtered Camels were 30 cents a pack.

For a while in the late 50's or early 60's Camels had a couple pennies between the cellophane and paper on the bottom of the pack so they could be sold for prices that didn't end in even five cent increments. I'm guessing for vending machines.

My grandpa swore he would quit if they ever got up to 35 cents. They did and he didn't.

Agree, prices affect low income the most. As well as small business that can't pass the increase off to customers. Look at retired people living on fixed incomes.

Ever check how much of the gas pump price are taxes? It’s a meaningful percent.

With most taxes being a percent, with prices going up, doesn't the taxes go up?
I really don't burn enough diesel to make that much difference. But I am looking at getting rough cut oak lumber for my next fence railing. I have used it before and it lasts as long as the treated. Will be trying to order all white oak for fence railing and to use as siding on the sheds.

Fuel taxes are typically not a percent. It’s a fixed tax per gallon.

This is the federal tax.

State taxes work similarly - but vary meaningfully from state to state.

Wow, back in October it was $3.10. I’m sure its higher now.
That's in the ballpark of what we paid last fall. Don't think it dropped much below $3/gal at all last year here. What's a pain is that you can't shop around since very few suppliers will fill a tank they don't own, and none will fill a tank that's owned by a competitor.
Pricey way to heat to be sure.
