I bought a yanmar 1500d and it is missing the front driveshaft. The guy i bought the tractor from claims that it got stolen. Everything seems to check out fine front end wise, but my question is has anyone ever made a homemade front driveshaft with some square tubing and some ends from tractor supply. Or would anyone happen to have a extra one or a old laying around they want to get rid of.

Call Hoye. I bet he has several shafts.
I am sure you could make one out of square tube and some yokes.
There must be a common problem and reason for this. There is a 1500 in my area on CL right now that is missing the front shaft???

I'm not sure you would find the right ends at tsc. They use metric ball bearings in the cups at each end. It's only held in with spring tension and a cotter pin. I think the easiest way i think is to buy the new shaft and parts. I think you risk damage to other parts by making one.

oh yea i forgot about the ball bearing ends etc. i dont have a D model so i dont see one.

I like to make as much as I can but I see that being more of a pain than it's worth. I did notice that the spring and washer that go with the install are not listed under the additional needed items.
