Although there are cw and ccw models I would rest easy thinking it is correct for your 155 if it came with it. Blade tip speed is important to get a good cut.
Also I don't think there would be a sticker saying what PTo Speed to use it with for a yanmar tractor of similar size if it were the wrong rotation for that application.

Changed the fuel filter on my lunch break today with no issues. Used the 3-screw technique that California mentioned. Old one looked okay but best to have a baseline for when the job was done.

Hey California, do you do the decompression lever for every cold start? Or just when you're having trouble? PO said the latter, but I guess it makes sense to take the strain off the battery etc to use it all the time.

Yes, very true. The confusion was from A) PO (who now seems less savvy than I thought) saying he used 540 and B) the the mower saying use "800" setting but the sticker on the tractor labels the faster setting "770". But the Yanmar manual says the faster setting is indeed 800. Hopefully will put it all to rest during a mowing session tonight after the radiator flush!

Sorry I'm slow getting back to you, we just got to NYC today visiting younger daughter.

I use compression release nearly always. Its just a habit.

The only time I won't is when the engine is warm and has been run recently, and I'm certain it will fire instantly. Even then it doesn't seem right to make the starter work hard so I tend to use the compression lever for an instant just as the starter motor starts to crank. Pure habit, I'm not sure it really needs such gentle treatment.

I use mine for the first start of the day only, unless it sat nearly all day again then reuse CR to start.

I use my CR almost all of the time too, unless I just shut it down with in an hour or so then I won't. Kind of like California it's a habit even though I've only had my tractor for little over a year. Just been reminding myself of why I should use it and it becomes a habit

Got a problem: the two peces that hold the ignition switch in the dash stripped last night as I was turning the key while flushing the radiator. I think the tab wore down on the bottom one, causing the thread to develop play on the top nut. Anyway, that's not the issue -- I took the ignition out to look at it and in doing so I brushed it against the frame just perfectly to cause one of the wires to spark. Now the ignition is dead and there's no dash lights or anything when I turn the key. Obviously in retrospect I should have disconnected the battery before I did anything with live electrical stuff. Hopefully I remember that lesson for at least a week.

Anyone run into this before? I got my meter out and started to test connections but it was getting dark. Are those four silly "fuses" the only ones on the tractor? They are all connected -- barely, but connected. I should probably get a more sensitive meter as I couldn't find a current from the battery to anywhere under the dash but it was getting dark fast so I stopped trying. Wiring / electricity is NOT a strong area for me, to say the least. Any ideas?

This will give you a good Idea of the wiring. Make sure you use a good Meter. If it was mine would clean your Ground. Battery and the Frame and the Positive Battery and to the Starter and go from there. May have just burnt a fuse.

Thanks! I ordered the manual but it won't show up until tomorrow.

There was connectivity between each side of the 5A fuse (all four fuses had connectivity) so it doesn't look like that's the issue. But I'll start trying to isolate the problem when I get back this evening. I have a higher quality meter here at work that I can borrow.

That diagram should be pretty close except its for the larger Yanmars with an automotive-type alternator and regulator.

If you just have the little pancake 'dynamo' (belt driven) or the dynamo inside the water pump hub, the charging portion of your system will be simpler.

Those fuses are basically obsolete. Hoye is about the only place to find them. I swapped it out for a mode fuse block replacement. The one they show on their site but I sources all the things separate since I had most of what I needed except the screws and the block itself. Was a good bit cheaper the do it your self routine .

And for the compression release. I use it all the time unless I just cut it off within an hour or so and then about half the time I use it. Lessens wear on the starter.
