Yanmar 1610d
I recently acquired a Yanmar 1610D. I have torn the engine all the way down to the bottom end and have pulled the motor from the frame. I am looking for someone that is knowledgable about these motors that may live close to Memphis, TN to help me rebuild the motor. I discovered that the problem with the engine was a rod bearing had sheared off and was in the bottom of the oil pan. Please reply if you are close by and can assist or give me some advise. Thanks

Welcome, I work in Memphis but I don't know squat about that engine. I will be glad to stand around and hand you wrenches if you keep a cooler full of Yuengling light in cans available for me. Some wings from Central BBQ too would be nice.

I will keep you in mind. Haha. I will let you know when I get the parts in from Hoye Tractor.

Welcome to the forum. :welcome: Have you very much experience on engines? Do you know the condition of the crankshaft at the spun bearing? Is it going to be useable?

Sounds like a train wreck to me. Did you also order a service manual, (that covers your engine), from Hoye? You are going to need specs and clearances for everything.

The crankshaft and connecting rod were not that bad and are are being dropped off at a engine shop today to get machined. I am awaiting the engine shops diagnosis on the cylinders, which can possibly be honed out before purchasing anything. Once they tell me what all I need, I am going to order it from Hoye. What I will need help with is reassembly and making sure everything is right when its time to fire it up. Thanks

I am to far to drive over but maybe someone in your area will respond. Would the engine shop reassemble it for you?

I am going to ask how much would they charge to reassemble and if they will.

Ok, I just got done talking to the engine shop. They will not reassemble the motor.

About 5 years ago I rebuilt the engine on my YM1700. I had a blown head gasket but did realize and run it hot. Anyway I replaced petty much everything on the lower end except the crank and mains. I took the head to machine shop and they resurfaced the head and replaced the valves, steam seals, springs, etc. I replaced the cylinder liners, pistons, rods, and rings myself then put it all back together. It fired right up the very first time I tried it. I was probably lucky.

I will offer you some tips. This was the first engine that I ever rebuilt. If you don't have the shop manual get one
