Hey y'all. Found this website a while back and have been using it for a while for research and searches. I finally joined up. So my question is me and my wife just bought a new place with about 10 acres, I've been living on a place in the willamette valley with around a 120 acres and have been using a JD 870 and Allison Chalmers. Well I would like to buy a tractor and have been looking at yanmars for a bit. Was looking at a 169D on CL and have been tossing around the idea of calling up and maybe trying to buy it. Anyone else out there with a 169D that can comment on some pros and cons, I know JD parts can be expensive... Just looking for a possible boost to just go out and buy one.

Thanks

your not to far from Ernie. Look him up on this forum. He could steer you in the right direction as far as a tractor that might fit your needs.

That tractor is a bit small compared to what you were using, I also own 10 acres and been using a ym2001 with no problems, it's just big enough to plow some, any lighter not sure how effective it would be with ground engaging task, a few days ago I upgraded a bit to a ym2210, my advice is to get a yn2000 series or larger. Good luck

480, I live about 150 miles north, and have a 186d. Great tractors, hard to beat. Just don't know what you want to do with it. I have just around 8 acres to deal with, not level, and very much need the 4wd. It pulls a middle buster, 5 ft brush hog, 5 ft finish mower, ect. without a problem. And is thrifty on fuel as well. TractorErine is in your neighborhood, and Hoye online is a great place to get parts.

480Valley, that 169D is possibly Johndeere3720's machine. He is a member here, and is an excellent resource to consult on this model tractor. He's an outstanding young man who also has begun selling his own implements for maintaining horse arenas among other things. Come up with a list of things you're wanting to do, and I bet he can advise you on how well the YM169D can perform for those tasks.

Well the property is a mixture of timber and fields. Really what I am looking to do is some brush hog work as well as some general maintenance of the property. The 169D I saw on CL doesn't have a FEL and I would need one for the work I wanna do. But may look into buying a koyker for it if I go that route.

Hey, that is very likely my Yanmar. :D As far as loaders, Cold water tractors offers them for $1800 installed up in Washington. Woods also makes a good loader that will fit on this tractor for more. I have seen a Koyker on a 169D before but when I talked to Ernie he said that he didnt know that Koyker offered a FEL for the 169D. this tractor has been well taken care of, any repairs I did on it you can easily find in the forums. I have done nothing major to it, everything was pretty minor, just took a lot to get them fixed due to their locations. If you have any questions, I am open to answering any you may have about this tractor. As for the tasks you have listed, it will definitely do what you want. I used it to mow the brush around the place for a couple years and it has never let me down. I recently sold my mower though. For PTO attachments, this tractor loves 40" tillers and mowers. As for anything else, It pulls a 4' box blade and other 4-5' implements with no problems.
