Hello and thanks for any response.....rear pto seal is leak some how hard to repair.if it is just a couple of bolts on the collar part to expose the seal......that should be real simple.....but I don't know and would rather have the information before i take it apart.....also the oil, water and ignition lights donnn't work ( probably been out for awhile) I opened up the bottom of the dash below the key area and it's a long way up underneath to ge to the bulbs...any suggestions......thanks again.......ken

Sorry that I can't offer specific advice... Everything that I ever worked on with my 186D was pretty straight forward. Sure a beutiful little machine!

You might get more action down in the Yanmar forum. Yanmar owners stick together!

I think your tractor and mine have the same light panel.

If all three lights are dead the problem is probably the 5 amp fuse at the top of the fuse panel. Those wire fuses are hard to find. Try early VW. I put inline fuse assemblies in place of each fuse on mine. (Leads to accept blade fuses would be better.) Be ready to catch the tiny screws, they are shorter than expected.

To check the bulbs assuming they are in a 1 inch x 3 inch panel: Unplug the connector below that panel, then carefully wiggle the 3-socket assembly out the back of the panel. On mine I found two of the bulbs were intermittent due to corroded solder joints on the bus between sockets so I got a new socket assembly.

As noted, post in the Yanmar forum and you'll get lots of helpful advice.

Welcome aboard!

YM 186D is a US model tractor and uses the cylindrical glass fuses that once were common here instead of the wire fuses that are seen on the greys. I have the service manual and an early parts book. Both of these are in English since it is domestic. PM me with any specific questions and I will try to do what I can to help.

Here is the schematic for the transmission housing. Refer no 32 is the oil seal retainer 194300-24880.

Well, that scan was not as clear as I had hoped it would be. Maybe it will be sufficient to give you an idea of the design. Here is the schematic for the range shift shaft. Refer no 34 is the PTO oil seal, TC 38 55 8 194990-52600
