The turnbuckle came loose from the clutch. I put the turnbuckle back on the clutch and now the clutch works totally backwards. I tried to turn the clutch arm around and now it won't engage at all. Is there a simple solution or do I have to split the tractor to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

What do you mean by "works totally backwards"? Sounds like you need to study up on how a clutch works.

What I mean is that in order for me to run my tractor, instead of pushing the clutch to engage the gears and releasing it, now I have to shift into gear and push and hold the clutch in to engage the gears and move the tractor. If I let up on the clutch, it will disengage (just as when you pushed the clutch in in normal operation it would disengage).

Hey, that actually could be handy in some situations... it's like a gas pedal - you just need to link your throttle cable into it now! :D

in all seriousness - thats not too good. I'm not sure about the transmissions in tractors (used to motorcycles) but is seems like the clutch fingers are installed backwards - that would cause it to engange when it should disengage.

I can't imagine how that could happen, even with something destroyed/ubhooked inside. The pressure plate applies pressure in it's relaxed state and releases with pressure from the TO bearing on the fingers. From the picture, what # is the arm that you installed backwards?

Turnbuckle is #23 and the other stuff on that rod?

You are saying only that part #23 came out of part #18? And then you put #23 back into #18? Nothing more?

I tried to turn the clutch arm around
So now #18 points up instead of down?

I'm confused.

Sure would like to see a pick of the linkage setup. And then go from there.Have a good idea whats wrong something tells me it's internal but I am far from an expert.

If arm # 18 will go upside down, it's going to require a split. Either the pin is sheared or clutch fork 17 has somehow become disengaged from clutch release, (throwout), bearing #15, and you will never get it back in without a split, and probably parts replacement.
