This is a question for the hydraulics gurus. I have noticed on my loader that the curl is weaker than what the bucket lift can pick up. The best explanation I can give, is today I had the forks on my bucket and loaded it with 10 foot long small diameter long lengths. The loader had no problem lifting the pile of logs, but I did notice that eventually the bucket due to the weight of the load started to curl downward. When I tried to correct the problem by raising the curl I lost all the strength and the bucket curled even more downward. So my question is should the curl cylinders be weaker than what the bucket can pick up? I have been lifting larger log length that I calculate in the 800 pound range. Or does it mean that I may have a leak in one of the cylinders or the loader valve. By the way one of the curl cylinders is a year old. System pressure is at 2200 psi

Sure, one of the cyl could have a bad seal.

The spool could also be worn and leaking.

There are test for both.

Can you cause the relief valve to activate by curling down fully?

Load force is determined by the pressure and the mechanical connection.

Neither of the cyl is pushing straight on, so there is an angle involved.

Do you know the advertised force of the bucket and the lift?

These loaders unfortunately have no specs that any of us Yanmar Viet Nam refurbed owners can find.

I have a gauge plumbed in on the pressure side of the valve and I see the relief come in at 2200 psi in both the up and down curl.

What does the gage show when you raise the 3 pt and hold it to max?

If I remember correctly, it will pin the gauge which is over 5000 psi

I don't think your pump is that capable, and the 3pt relief valve would relieve at the set pressure.

Just leave the gage in the loader valve and activate the 3pt and tell us what the gage shows.

JJ - I made a video as I thought it would best so you can see what the gauge reads. The video is upside down but that's so we can read the gauge best. In the foreground you can see the loader bucket going from end to end in the curl cycle. The 3pt was fully raised the whole time.

The video you referenced was a log splitter demo.

What I was trying to get you to do was only operate the 3pt valve and hold it at the raised position and tell us the pressure.

If your bucket curls downward with the lever in neutral, there is a problem.

Do you know what your system pressure is supposed to be?
