Well, I am not new to tractors, my Dad and I have farmed for many years and have done routine service as well as major work on large farm tractors. Suchas TA and bull gear changes on IH 1066 and 856 tractors and many IH diesel rebuilds, so we are not afraid to work on tractors.
On to my question, Dad has a Ford 8N that is in good conditon, but he wants a compact diesel and we have been looking for an IH 284 with 4wd, have had 0 luck finding one anywhere in the central or eastern US. So, we are looking at some of the Jap. imports. I have located a 2210D on Ebay in IL with possibly low hours that looks pretty good and we will try to look at it before the end of the sale as well. But I have a couple of questions about this tractor...
Is the PTO really live or does the powershift tranny make it feel live since you don't have to clutch between forward and reverse? And how many speeds does it really have, I have seen as low as 9 and as high as 15 listed on various sites. The 2210 sounds like a good solid tractor to us, but we don't have what we consider to be a reputible gray dealer that we can find in central IL so we have not really been able to look at them.
Any input would be great.
Thanks Matt
