Looking for some feedback. I think I am going to buy an 2210 2WD with an woods FEL. What do you folks think of this model? Any feedback would be appreciated.

JIMTORL,

It all depends on what you plan to do with the tractor. I have a 1700 which is several sizes smaller than the 2210, but it will do all that I need it to. I keep up about 500' of gravel drive and finish mow about 4 acers. There are plenty of other uses, but those are the main ones.

As far as the front end loader on a 2wd; some will chime in about the safety factor and it being on a 2wd. Again; it depends on what you plan to do with it. My .02.

Unless you are getting a really good deal, I would not buy a 2wd tractor with a FEL. The Ga. dealer I bought my tractor from refused to put loaders on 2wd tractors for both safety and operational reasons, although I know that a lot of users do put up with it.

I am fixing to put a FEL on my 1500 which is 2 WD, please explain the safety and operational reasons of not putting them on a 2 WD tractor?

I have a 2210 with a loader. I love it. It works great. I don't see any problems. I don't understand the safety problems mentioned here. It is a great set up for me. I have gotten stuck one time and I just used the FEL to get my self out. I don't tractor much in the mud anyway so 4wd is not important to me. Just one more system to maintain or repair. Not saying I would not take 4wd I just did not want to pay for it. I would rather have a larger 2wd. Say 2210 vs 1610d. My pick up is 4wd. I only use it a couple times a year but it was worth it to me. The front end on the 2210 seems heavy built enough for 1000 lb capacity loader. I would not go any bigger than that.....I like the 2cyl engine also. The power shift trans is the best part of the 2210. The 2310 is has a 3cyl. The 2320 has 3cyl and powershift on the column. It would be nice to have it on the column but you get use to it.

Yes I do not see the issues here, many American made 2 wd tractors have FEL on them. I have even see a number of tricycle John Deere's and IH tractors with FEL, now on flat land might not be a issue but if your ground is hilly, forget it, regardless of the FEL.

I will be using this tractor for mowing 3 acres. The FEL would mostly be used for moving a little dirt but mostly to load branches into it and clean up the junk that washes up on the shore.
Thank you for your input.

First the safety reason. A tractor this small is extremely light weight for a tractor. You need plenty of counter weight on the rear when using a loader. If you are going down hill and apply the brakes you run the risk of not stopping or not stopping as well. As you know a tractor has brakes ONLY on the back wheels. Wehn you have 4 wheel drive and it is engaged, then your rear wheels are connected to the front and therefore you have more breaking ability.

Operational Reasons: 4 wheel drive just plain works better than 2 wheel drive. I know that there have been thousands of 2 wheel drive tractors with loaders. When your tractor only weighs 1500 to 2000 pounds you need every bit of help you can get. Big 2 wheel drive ag tractors with loaders weigh thousands of pounds more than these little Yanmars and have much more HP. I have only sold 1 2 wheel drive tractor with a loader and it was a YM1500. I fully explained to the guy the limitations of the tractor, but he was on a budget and was not planning on doing aggresive digging with his. If I forget to engage the 4 wheel drive on my 3000 pound, 32hp John Deere when using the loader, I can tell the difference.

Can you put a loader on a 2WD? Yes

Will it work? Yes

Will it work as well as a 4WD? Absolutely not

That's exactly what my Ga. dealer, (C & C Equipment), told me.
