Hello All,

I used it about 15 hours and now is started pouing oil/ transmission/hydraulic oil out of the middle of the tractor, it looks as if it is coming from a little hole in the bottom of the bell housing?? Is there a plug missing or is this going to be my new nightmare? I'm heartbroken, the tractor was bought 8-22-08 and I have a 90 day warranty but the dealer is several hundred miles away? I'm going to call the dealer asap monday, I discovered this about 5pm today after preparing the tractor to load on the trailer, it actually starting leaking while I pulled it up everything was fine and then actually saw it start leaking and the oil/fluid was pouring out of the little hole like water, then it quit when it was put in neutral, but when in gear it started leaking again. I'm hoping to ease my mind please if you know anything let me know, email, or post.
Thanks,
Kyle

Sorry for your headache... we experienced many such problems buying tractors that came from the same importer. Hopefully your dealer will help you, but the wildly misrepresented age is not a good sign. BTW, the tractor pictured on Tractorhouse is definitely a VN Tractor / Vina Tractor machine.

Could be the main seal mentioned earlier, but then you'd have engine oil leaking from the bell housing. Double check whether that's engine or hydraulic oil. Sounds to me (based on the leak being dependent on transmission engagement) that a seal or gasket on the powershift pump has gone. We had a 2310D fresh from Japan doing that a couple months ago. That pump is behind the bell housing (behind, meaning toward the rear of the tractor) on the front end of the transmission.... either way the tractor will need to be split.... not a fun job to cut your teeth on.... replacing a temp sending unit would be more like it.

Fredricks is in Alabama and I'll bet they could fix it for you.

Good luck, report back!

Had to split mine for a similar problem just after I got it. Dealer was 4 hours drive away and didn't feel like pulling it over there. Ended up that the front of the trans, ( in the passages that the shifter rods move in ) 3 rubber plugs that seal the case came out. They came out because the rebuilder ( VN rebuild, what a joke ) neglected to replace the strap that holds them in place. I split the tractor, found the problem, ordered new plugs from Hoye, made the missing strap, installed, reassembled and refilled with hyd fluid. Total time was about 10 hours working time. You should be able to tell the engine oil from the trans fluid by smelling it and looking at it. Could also be the output shaft for the trans, or if engine oil, the rear main. Reguardless, let the dealer fix it if you can. If you don't have the setup to safely split the tractor it's going to take longer than the 10 hours. One advantage of you doing the split is that all of the other parts in there can be looked at and replaced if needed. In the same split I found that the housing the throwout bearing rides in was cracked and had been braized welded poorly. Send it back or to a good dealer for the repairs if you can,
Chris

I hate to hear about your bad luck. I have had my doubts about all the reconditioned tractors as to how well the job was done. I hope you get fixed up without to much hassle.
