Yanmar F17D thermostat

Does anybody know if there is a North American equivalent for the thermostat used in a Yanmar F17D? Maybe a NAPA parts number or something?

I suspect mine is either stuck open or missing as the gauge does not rise ( it works) and the water from the thermostat cover to the radiator gets hot soon after starting. I have read that a lot of Japanese farmers remove the thermostats, but can't help feeling that it would be better for the engine if it ran at the designed temperature.

Jim,

This is an interesting information. I checked the JD site and don't understand how to find it. Does this mean that you know the JD equivalent of the F17D engine ? If yes could you explain me where you found the information on the site.
