I recently bought a used Yanmar F 20 and know very little about it. I did check the fluid levels and found the transmission / hydraulic fluid to be low. I bought a 5 gal can of "universal tractor transmisson /hydraulic fluid . It shows that is approved for IH, Kubota, John Deere, White and others. I does not specificly mention Yanmar. Is this the correct lubricant?
Thanks

Most manuals seem to specify fluid that states it is compatible with JD 303 (which seems to be standard).

The Yanmars with wet brakes, like this one, should actually run JD20A compatible Hy/Trans, but most universal Hy/Trans is rated compatible with both JD303 and JD20A, so you are in good shape with the advice given above.

Thank you all. I was concerned about it. I added it this morning. Funny thing happened after I did it though. I have had a battery light on since I got the tractor. I had measured the battery voltage not running and had 12.xx volts then I started it and it read 14.8 volts with a multimeter so I did not worry about it. After I added the oil to the transmission the battery light went out???. Is one of the lights on there supposed to show low transmission oil? maybe the leads are crossed. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
