yanmar F455D<< need help

I recently bought what I was told a Yanmar F455D tractor. I need help with some questions.. I live In Mtn City TN and need to know who will service it?? Also How do I make the PTO go faster?? I have 4 speeds for the PTO but whichever one i put it in,, the speed dont change? There is also a lever in front of my right knee when i sit down, What is thid for??Can anyone help?? Thanks JOHN

In my notes I found that someone listed 1st pto speed is 540 @2250 engine rpm #2-915 @ 2500rpm engine rpm #3-1094 #4-1417 rpm .I'm not sure how correct these #s are 'I got them off of the site. I only use 1 st pto speed to bush hog & it works well.

thanks for the info,, but it seems that no matter where I put it,,1,2 3 or 4 the speed dont change and when i lowwer it to the ground the grass stops the blade from spinning, am I doing something wrong ???

Sounds like your mower is only free-wheeling. If the driveshaft and/or the output stub on the tractor are stopping while pto is in gear, clutch engaged, you have a major problem.

Do you have an overrun clutch?Or is it built in on this mod.?

OUCH,, that dont sound like something good. there is a lever in front of my right knee when i sit down ,, do you know what it is for???

Im not sure what an overrun clutch is?? ,, i cant seem to find much info on this model.. Im hopeing to find someone with the same tractor and learn how to use it.

It's quite possible that you have the only F455D in the country, never heard of any other in 4 years following 4 Yanmar forums. That lever probably engages/disengages 4wd.

Here is a link to an earlier thread about the 455. I have discussed this with a few other dealers, and the concensus is it is most likely a Korean made tractor with a Yanmar engine. Whether it is or not, last communications I had with other dealers indicated no one knows where to get parts for it. If I was you I would be trying to return the tractor. I honestly do not think you will find parts support, and obviously no local pool of knowledge about it.

Who did you buy it from? Maybe they know something about it. I looked at the old thread that LMTC brought forward. (I remember seeing it before also) I would thing that they are very capable tractors by looking tractors 50 pto hp and all! You are going to have to find out what it is that you bought! Maybe you can trace it back a few sellers ago and find out.
If it is one of those old Bransons and I think it is parts maybe easy to come by. Try and find a branson or century dealer near you. Some times if you have broken part in hand you can find a replacement... Very few large Gray market Yanmars have been imported to the USA.
