That is a unbelievable price and the only thing I can think of is it is in an area that is so depressed nobody has any money or there is something really wrong with it. Or its not farm country and isnt an area any tractor sells well elifino but sure seems odd he came down 4 grand in what 7 months? hummm

I think if its got a major trans or engine or differentials problem it would be a deal breaker but if all that is sound the rest of the stuff should be able to be "cobbled". For lack of a word that describes fixing things with different parts that work in an application and at that it is simply a matter of technique to make it sanitary and functional.

That immediate area isn't real wealthy but that's deep suburban Los Angeles, so he has a potential market of what - 18 million people? within 100 - 150 miles. Something like that.

Maybe this present owner discovered its already cobbled. - ? Or some essential part is unobtainable? it really is a mystery. I'm like you, for that much tractor at that price I would find a way to get several years out of it regardless if oem parts don't exist, unless it already has a broken crank or something.

I went back and looked at the ad before posting this. In April it was "GENTLY USED & RUNS GREAT! $8,900". Now I just noticed it is described as "REBUILT WITH NEW INSIDES AND OUT 5000.00 TAKES IT" in the SoCal version of the current ad; that rebuild isn't mentioned in the NorCal listing I found a couple of days ago. So ... it seems to have a short-term new owner (different phone number), a 4k price reduction, and 'rebuilt with new insides' in the six months since it was last described.

This might be one to walk right on by, for anyone less than a skilled mechanic/machinist/inventor.
