Yanmar 1300D
Hello,

Just bought our first tractor - used Yanmar 1300D 4WD.

No one in east Tennessee seems to be able to tell us what gear oil to use for the front axel and gear box.

Anyone out there who can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I agree with the gear oil for the front axle.. but have a question. Is the tranny/rear axle/ hyds a common sump as in the 1700's? If so, adding 140wt oil will probably cause the hydro pump to detonate from cavitation eventually. I was under the impression that all common sump machines were using UTF, unless the pump was made to pump gear oil.. etc?

You're right, Soundguy, I assumed the gearbox referred to meant the front differential, since gear oil was mentioned. I would put hy/tran = to JD303 in the tranny.

Thank you, everyone. Yes, I was talking about the front differential. We bought the 1300D to help maintain a 2/10 mile gravel drive that has one area with a slight grade. We may end up going with something a bit larger to drag the dirt and gravel. Our drive is simply one to maintain (already has gravel on it) but our kid's drive is just starting out so more gravel will keep being added to it.

Thank you again everyone.
