They have re-entered the US market under their own name.

- Yanmar

I was told years ago ,by an importer that went to Japan personally to get tractors, that Yanmar wouldn't sell direct to The US because of all the law suits against manufactures. At least it is a factor.

It is THE factor. Most people involved intimately with this market know that Yanmar is a family owned (i.e., NOT a publicly held) company....no stock traded publicly, no accountability outside the family, and as a result quite capable of making decisions based on principle, beliefs, or even whims. The head of the family had many times made it clear that he (and presumably others involved in business operations) had nothing but disdain for the litigiousness of our society. Personally I concur with him. Their construction equipment, while being marketed under the Yanmar name, is imported and distributed by a US company, providing an international layer against suits in the US. The tractors are insulated first by the new corp. created to market them, and second by mtd or whoever owns cub these days, again distancing Yanmar in Japan by several layers.

Bottom line to remember....these new tractors are a CONTRACT tractor, not being marketed or sold by the manufacturer. The history of contract tractors is not a good one in terms of long-term parts supplies. Even now the original seller of 650, 750, etc, compacts is not supplying many parts for those early compacts, nor is the manufacturer (remember, the manufacturer has no vested interest, and once the seller ends a contract, liability for any parts sold by the manufacturer would be on them) selling them. Those two and many other of that series are on their way to becoming orphans. Visit the JD forum and do some reading. Even worse is the parts supply (or lack of) from Agco and MF dealers for the compacts made for them 15-20 years ago by Hinomoto and Iseki.

If indeed, Yanmar has a non-competing clause with John Deere on rubber tired tractors in the US, this would still allow them to import these T80 rubber track tractors.

Think these models have limited distribution in the states. Our local JD dealer is the dealer for these models. Dealer said Yanmar was seeking out JD dealerships for these models as they share a lot of components with the JD/yanmar models. Down the road from the JD dealership the local IH/Case/Cub dealer, who is an offical Yanmar dealer but doesn't stock anything Yanmar including the new Cub/Yanmar models. Competes too closely with the Case line.

Sorry Ernie, I only have two left and need to hang on to them in case an old customer would need them. I saw that LMTC was getting some a few posts back.
