just bought my frist tractor it has a decompression lever on it what is it for? all so what should the temp run on this tractor its a 2200

Used to ease starting as the engine turns over easier without compression. I use mine every time I start mine. Hold decompression lever and crank until oil pressure builds. Release lever and start. If you use it every time may also prevent engine damage if for some reason you have fluid in the cylinders at startup.
