YANMAR RETURNS TO THE U.S.

The Yanmar engine that was in my JD tractor was a great motor. It was a 3 cylinder diesel with 28 hp, would start in any weather conditions, was smooth and responsive and very seldom lost power. I would think this would help CC drastically when people realize who is building their compact tractors.

I suspect a major, if not primary, reason for Yanmar to disown the Asian market tractors imported into the US by 3rd parties is to limit their exposure to product liability litigation in the US. I don't see that this cooperative agreement with Cub Cadet does anything to reduce that exposure. Therefore, I can't see that this signals any softening in Yanmar's position relative to those tractors.

I agree.. most deffinately a liability issue... americans will sue anybody for any reason... ( ho-hum... )

Soundguy You said a lot right then . And it was not that way 50 years ago. Some one turns a Tractor over and they want to sue the tractor company because they did something stupid .

You know, convicted pedophiles, in many jurisdictions, are restricted from being within X yards of schools, etc. where children are concentrated. Perhaps the "sue anybody for any reason" problem could be addressed by restricting lawyers from being within X yards of any courtroom or legislature.

Must stay back 'x' yards from an ambulance!

There used to be an evacuation plan in case of nuclear attack for Dallas that went something like this. Police and Firemen take I-45 north or south. Citizens take I-20 or I-30 east and west. Doctors and nurses take I35 north or south. All lawyers take Loop 12.

Loop 12 runs around Dallas well within the dead zone of a nuclear blast.:D

I would love to have 30hp version of my YM187 with a Power Shift, something along the lines of the old YM336D from days gone by.

I think that Yanmar will still consider grays as the *** step children that they will keep hid in the closet.
I expect this will continue to be the position of Yanmar-Japan (the CC partner) and Yanmar-USA (importer of Yanmar boat engines and construction equipment). They don't want anything to do with the informally-imported grays due to liability.

But I think this higher visibility for Yanmar quality and reputation will benefit the gray market owners, helping to keep an active resale market and encouraging the replica-parts suppliers. Overall, a Good Thing.

Now if we could just get ebay to lighten up on their VERO (support of trademark owner) ban.

I expect the new CC's will be very good tractors, possibly a good move-up for some present Yanmar owners.

So does Yanmar still make tractors for JD? I thought it was funny when I saw the CBL 40 (I think that's the model) advertising. It seems it would compete roughly against the JD 110? (I don't know much about the specs of either, but at for me at first glance they seem to compete)
