Buying Advice Yard Man

I have never owned a tractor, plenty of old cars, trucks and motorcycles. I have a 3 acre lawn that will need mowing. Someone offered me a 2003 Yard Man for "best offer." Are they any good?

If I am buying used, should I try to stick with Joh Deere, Toro or some other make. I thought I would try to buy a used tractor and give it to the lawnmower shop while there is snow on the ground to get a good price.

I am a newbie here so please forgive my ignorance. What I really want is a Farmall Cub but I will start with something modern

Some people have had good luck with the 'Yard Man', and some haven't.

I believe it's made by MTD

That's why I have a Massey now...........didn't want to deal with MTD.

A good Farmall Cub, already restored is gonna run you 2,500 to 3,000 or more according to prices on E-bay lately.
Although I did see one on there for 500(starting bid), running condition, but smokes..........looks rough though.

But if you are mowing 3 acres, I would consider either a small tractor like the Massey GC2400, or equivalant.........or consider an Industrial size zero turn.
