Yard trailers - what have you got?

For small loads (filled with a shovel), I use the old garden dump cart:

I have several trailers... all get used for many things... have one of the lawn mower trailers, it's handy for the mower for little things... next biggest is one made out of the bed of a Ford Ranger, bought for cheap and haven't used it much partially because it has a flat tire... next is a Harbor Freight 4x8 trailer that I've had for ~6 years, it's a work horse, I put 2' plywood sides on it and have hauled my 3 wheeler (Honda 350X) to the dunes a couple times, hauled RC airplanes around in it (made a lid for it so it was enclosed) and had it full to the top with bark dust for the yard. Also have a 7x12 deck trailer that used to be a travel trailer that I have a whole $200ish in, it's way overkill since it has brakes (not wired in) but I haven't put more than 1000lb on it I don't think, and the other trailer has two mobile home axles and I think a 6x12' deck and sides...

All get used for anything and everything... the HFT trailer is currently full of apple tree trimmings, the single axle flat trailer is full of grape plants since my burn pile is super full right now and the ground is too saturated for the tractor to drive over to it without making a mess to press it down, burn season doesn't open til March...

I have a 5x10 I built 25 years ago but I usually just throw stuff in the loader bucket of my backhoe. Just built a thing to put an old elevator gearcase on for ballast that is bigger than the case. Going to eventually put a floor and rails on the rear section to haul stuff on. I used an old receiver hitch for the rear of this contraption in case I want to hook the trailer up to it.

4 x 8 Harbor Freight is a good choice unless you will be hauling heavy stuff or want to haul a mower. I is a good size to pull behind a wide choice of vehicles. A 5x10 is a really handy size but will force you to go to a trailer dealer and pay upwards to $1000 unless you can catch one used.

Years ago I picked up a pop-up trailer minus all it's guts real cheap. It was a good trailer with the sides (I used it over the road to transport wood and my quad); then I stripped off the sides and use it behind the tractor around the yard. Had it 35 years now.

For brush with the tailgate in, this is what I call a full dump:

works for both pulling and hauling/dumping. Use the winch to dump the trailer and to pick up a log for pulling.

Very interesting. At first I thought it was two different trailers, then I figured out all of the pivots and pegs :thumbsup:.
