I've read several past posts regarding the installation of work lights and fog lights, and recall someone (Bob_Sukura?) mentioning that he went with yellow fog lights in the hopes of cutting down on the bugs. Do yellow lights really cut down on the bugs? Is there a compromise on the light quality for working? I'm interested in hearing the opinions of folks on what is actually being used. I'm leaning towards installing 2 forwars and 1 rear, and would probably stick with 35w in a white light, though I haven't been able to find any that I like yet.

I don't know if the lights attract less bugs or not, the yellow light does not seem to compramise overall light, but I don't know if it is a real benefit.

Ron, I found I used them extensively in the winter and the snow did have a yellow cast to it, but I've only used them one time late into the evening and the tractor was parked with the lights on to illuminate an area I was working on. I was about 30 or 40 feet in front of the tractor, the tractor was parked on the highest spot on my land, there are no trees there for the skeeters to hide in, and there was a breeze! So I can honestly say I don't know if yellow lights attract few bugs. I do know that white lights definately get them swarming around the front of the tractor! I guess I'll have to work later or the sun will have to go down earlier! But now that we have the Ventrac, our mowing time is cut about 90 minutes a week and that is why I am not out mowing with the NH late into the evening.

BOB: I think the best advice I could give is to STAY AWAY FROM THAT YELLOW SNOW! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I should swap in the yellow lenses I got in my KC light All Season package and let you know. I only used the white lights so far and I have not noticed that many bugs. I did get the 2 different color lenses to try this theory out though.

Oh my lights are (2) 55 W but I did notice that KC makes 35 watt round ATV lights that may work well for you. They do make 35 W small rectangle lights too.
