The new machines will always be on the lot. I would give yourself about a month of leeway before you absolutely need it to take delivery. Start looking for a older used machine right now. The key is the search for used equipment. Check multiple sources (local co-op, farmers gatherings, church ads, maybe CL but be really careful, dealers). Be weary that many dealers do not take the time to comb over a used machine.
It may take you MONTHS to find a good used machine but this is the trade off. Your diligent, patient, and careful research should lead to a solid purchase. Be patient. Who knows you may also get lucky and find something in a week.
