Just bought a Ym2000, it's been setting up for several years, the owner said he thought it had not been cranked in 3 years, was running, he just quit using it, it will turn over, I drained the fuel tank and replaced with fresh fuel, still did not crank, cracked the lines at the injectors and no fuel, opened the lines where they come out of the pump and on one side I am getting a small amount of fuel with little pressue the other side has no fuel at all coming out, has the pump gone bad from just sitting or is there something else i can try, iit's a good looking tractor after I pressured washed off the black from sitting under a oak tree, didn't give but 800.00 for it and came with a decent 4' bush hog and box blade, any help appreciated.

Dont think your can go wrong for the price. Boxblade worth $200, bushhog $300 maybe less depending upon condition for you paid about $300 for tractor, which is a steal. You can get it going but dont listen to what a seller siad unless he is a good budy. They always ran 3 years ago when parked?? Why would anyone be using a tractor then park it for 3 years if it ran flawless?

Did you replace fuel filter? Bleed the 2 screws on the filter housing then the one right at the injector pump? If you got all air out there keep cranking, are you getting any smoke? Also leave fuel cap loose to make sure air is getting into the tank. The cranking procedure is to pull the throttle all the way back toward you, if you have thermostart you can use it by turning key to left (u dont need it in this weather though!!!). Now once throttle is open crank the engine over. You should be getting greyish/whiteish smoke out of exhaust if its getting fuel. Once it starts reduce the throttle till 1500 rpms. Try this and let us know results.

Bleeding air out of the fuel line on these takes a special ritual:

There is a bleeder screw on the inlet (tank) side of the fuel filter, another on its outlet side, and a third one down on the injector pump inlet.

Open each bleeder in turn starting from the filter inlet, bleed until no air comes out, close it, move on to the the next one.

The experienced dealers who post her have said this is all that is needed to bleed the fuel system, there is never a need to open the high pressure lines beyond the injector pump.

I bought my YM240 (same as YM2000) after it had sat for a long time. The fuel had gone bad and it was hard to start. Fresh fuel (and correct bleeding) was all it needed to start easily and run like new.

Clemsonfor covered the stuff I missed. One more tip: You can get it spinning with the compression release pulled, then push in the release lever and the inertia of the flywheel will assist the starter to crank it past the compression stroke faster than the starter alone can do.

It is unlikely that the injector pump is bad, this is rare. Bad fuel, then low compression (rings & valves) that make cold weather starting more difficult, will be the culprit 90% of the time.

California said what i meant to say. Injection pump failure is very rare, so i too dont think thats the problem.

Like he siad its far more likely the compression is low due to worn rings or a blown head gasket giving trouble.

Sometimes 'ran when parked' means he couldn't get it started the next day. :D

I see there are prior threads on this topic listed at the bottom of this page. It might be worthwhile to read through them.

fill with good fuel and plenty of power service... now... set throttle and put in gear.. and have someone drag you all over the pasture.

fastest way I know to get a diesel primed.. and it's easy on the starter and battery..

And on the YM2000, you can use the compression release to make this easier. My girlfriend's YM2000 won't spin the engine against compression without an implement on back or with weighted tires.

If the system is not properly bled, though, it will be fruitless. Clemson and California gave excellent instructions.

Worked on this a while this morning, this injector pump must be different, the previous owner removed the fuel filter and ran the fuel line straight into the pump, I am going to correct this tomorrow, there aren't any bleed screws on this pumpb ut I opened the fuel lines where it comes out of the pumpand allowd the air to bleed off, this worked on one of the lines and i now have fuel all the way tyo the injector on one line, I wasn't getting any fuel out of the right hand line, took the line completely loose from the pump. no fuel, I looked at the picture of this pump on the Hoye tractor site and it does not look like the pne they have posted, they fuel show the fuel lines coming straight out of the pump, these lines come out in the same place but sort of T off the top, it has a cap on the end of this and if this is loosened the conn. to the fuel line will rotate around this shaft, anyway i screwed that mechanism out of the pump and there is fuel coming out of the pump and also the conn. to the fuel line, but when I tighten this back down the fuel flow stops, may have to call Hoye in the morning for some advice.
